Text Box:

Geoeye, formerly known as “Orbimage” not only gathers data from government and NASA satellites such as NOAA but has its own satellites and various other means such as oceanic buoys to gather data and imagery.

Product Summary

· Affordable information from privately owned satellites

· Expert advice from oceanographers

· Pay only for usable time whilst out at sea not during layovers or off-season periods

· Comprehensive information from both satellite an ocean based buoys.

· Also available : satellite connected  position buoys for assets such as fish farms, nets and long lines. The buoys also have the (optional) capability of conveying depth temperature wave height data.

We have been associated with Geoeye for the last 10 years and can attest to its quality of service. Many past users will tell you that it is not a cheap service but one which has many benefits. Offset from the cost is though that the service (and monthly costs ) for a vessel can be suspended during the layoff or other non-fishing periods reducing the costs considerably.

Most importantly are the benefits that Geoeye with cast master gives to the user.

Geoeye is presented as a program with CMAP mapping overlay for increased accuracy and a traditional navigation presentation. The gathered data includes surface and sub-surface temperatures sea-surface height anomalies (indicating pressure cells and upwelling, thermo-clines, plankton levels and ocean currents.

Weather maps are also included as a complimentary feature giving the fisherman all the necessary data to position himself in the best possible area pertaining to his target catch. Expert oceanographers lend their hand  by indicating best possible areas. I would Argue that the monthly subscription and down load costs are more than compensated with increased catches that this information can help bring about .

To bring about the most efficient way of presenting this information on board your vessel a good internet connection is needed. If you are always in good range of shore based 3G facilities this would possibly be Telstra Next g. Although normal 3G modems are capable of good operation, we really recommend the Eric son W25/35 as a more powerful and hence longest range solution.

For regions only covered by Satellite we would recommend Inmarsat FLEET33 as a minimum giving ISDN (64kB) SPEEDS (within spot beam areas). We are capable of supplying and installing both systems.
